The Last Dance ft. Virat, Rohit, Warner, and More…

Image
Virat Kohli and Steven Smith during World Cup 2019. P.C (ICC)  Indian Ace off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin-who was the last-minute inclusion in the India’s World Cup squad-in his recent interview said that “this might be his last world cup so he is just enjoying this journey.” Eventually all things have a culmination, so as this too. Though, there are many stars who must be shivering to address media with this heroism-that they may be entering their final ODI World Cup showdown-but nonchalantly they have to, at least after some stage. As the hype and saga of ICC men’s ODI cricket World Cup have sky-rocketed with all teams going all-out in their preparations prior to the biggest extravaganza, some hypothetical fans have already started smoking the tales of the cricket’s biggest superstars setting the stage on fire one last time at the highest level. The last decade has been a witness to many stalwarts who have not only fluctuated the records book with...

Siraj celebrates after dismissing Sri Lanka skipper Dasun Shanaka (P.C. BCCI/ANI) Not long ago, Mohammed Siraj revealed that he was asked to leave cricket (and drive auto with his father), when he ran through in one of his worst IPL seasons in 2019, forcing him to think about his career before MS Dhoni eventually came in to rescue him. (To RCB podcast). It was the home game against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2019 where Siraj became the culprit in the eyes of trollers and abusers who were dashing for one disastrous outing of a young boy, who was already in the lure of charisma of professional cricket at the highest level. Siraj rock-and-rolled the game from the stage where he could have potentially escaped from the heat of the ever-passionate RCB and Virat Kohli fans as he gifted two beamers to the dangerous Andre Russell following which the West Indian all-rounder buckled up the encounter single-handedly. Esca...

Cricketing AI Technology, ft. “Mahi Way”

Image
Don’t interpret it faultily or juggle in any mayhem as to what relates the trending delinquent Artificial Intelligence with the former Indian and Chennai Super Kings skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni as both have subsequently vast differentiations. One may argue that AI technology is highly knowledgeable and contains a strong amount of information, and to contrast MS Dhoni is a human and works pretty accordingly to it. But to debate, it can be stated evidently that Dhoni is far more intelligent than the artificial bot itself as the on-field heroics and pyrotechnics that Mahi stages are commendable and imbibe a sense of ostensible feeling in every individual that what he has for the next one standing.  Just to summarize what he did to Delhi Capitals' top order in their last encounter at their “Anbuden Chepauk.” The top order consisted of fireworks in Warner, Salt, Mitch Marsh, and Rossouw who had come top-notched in their previous battle against RCB, humbling them convincingly. However...

Pitching the High Note- The Jaiswal’s “Yashasvi” Game!                                                      Photo Credit: BCCI/IPL It wasn’t just a usual day for Kolkata people who had just witnessed the banger of an inning by Rajasthan Royals opener Yashasvi Jaiswal who wreaked havoc on the KKR bowlers in a run chase of a mere hundred and a half. But it was just another day in the office for Jaiswal who has become used to heaping the runs for any team, any stadium, and every format of the game he plays. The courage, fight, determination, and challenge he possesses are ditto for every day and the next. Just as the latest entrant to his commendable works when the 23-year-old made a mockery of the below-par target set by the Kolkata Knight Riders, and of the bowling arsenal of the skipper Nitish Rana who could just applaud the destruction that was posed ...

Cinematic England Turnaround in White Ball Cricket

Image
pic credit: ICC, ECB  Eoin Morgan and his men were in deep agony, heads down, caps off, distressed, and posing like effigies, pretending that this shouldn’t have been on their cards at this stage. Rubel Hossain had just shattered Stuart Broad’s stumps to knock England out of the ODI World Cup 2015 in Australia in the group stage only. This was the moment England Cricket revolutionized. English captain Morgan sat and decided to change this dated style of approach and adopt a more rigorous way of playing white-ball cricket. A style more worthy of sustaining in this world of more competitiveness and stakes. Albeit, they were going in from the transition phase with more veterans going down from the line of white ball cricket after the early-stage debacle, ultimately paving way for some young and energetic lads who had the sense of attacking and fearlessne...

Surya: The Next Mr.360 in the Making?

Image
image credit: AFP It was just a usual day for Suryakumar Yadav in the office on Sunday against Zimbabwe where he pounced on a hapless African-nation attack and displayed all sorts of poetry that he has written in his book over the years. Zimbabwe skipper Craig Ervine was a bit amused and confused at the same time seeing the batting trajectory of Suryakumar as it was the first live interaction for him against this striking professional who knew how to play with the field and that’s what made Ervine furious too with, he indulging in conference with bowlers every other ball Surya faced. In the 20 th over of the innings which was bowled by tall left-handed paceman Richard Ngarava, Ervine jammed the off-side field indicating...

From Mohali to MCG, the Kohli way!

Image
It was in the year 2016, in the midst of the golden phase of the Indian batting sensation, Virat Kohli , who came into the middle under pressure after an early debacle against Australia in what was considered the virtual knockout fight in the T20 WC tournament at Mohali.  If India had to claim the ticket to semi-final, they should anyhow pass this checkpoint of Australian team who were the reigning 50-over World Champions at that time and were on their way to throne the T20 mega event in India. However, it was Kohli who was standing between the lines, and it was Kohli alone who became the difference between the two sides, as what the world saw later was a miraculous innings anyone could have played in the T20 World Cup and is highly in the league of Michael Hussey’s show in WC 2010 against Pakistan in the semi-finals. Now, it is year 2022, the world after the coronavirus pandemic, distinctively transformed. MS Dhoni is replaced by Rohit as India's skipper, and in between, the Vir...
